Hadis Ibnu Umar r.a katanya:
Ketika Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul meninggal dunia, datang anaknya Abdullah bin Abdullah menemui Rasulullah s.a.w, meminta pakaian Rasulullah s.a.w untuk mengapani jenazah ayahnya. Rasulullah s.a.w memenuhi permintaan tersebut, kemudian beliau meminta Rasulullah s.a.w menyembahyangkan jenazah ayahnya. Maka Rasulullah s.a.w berdiri untuk memenuhi permintaan itu. Umar berdiri serta menarik baju Rasulullah s.a.w sambil berkata: Wahai Rasulullah! Adakah kamu ingin menyembahyanginya, tidakkah Allah melarang dari berbuat begitu? Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda: Sesungguhnya Allah memberi pilihan kepadaku. Umar berkata: Abdullah itu orang munafik. Rasulullah s.a.w tetap menyembahyangi jenazah tersebut.

Translation

Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, reported:
When 'Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul (the hypocrite) died, his son 'Abdullah bin 'Abdullah came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and asked him to give his shirt which should be used for the coffin of his father. He gave that to him. He also asked Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) to lead his funeral prayer. When the Prophet (may peace be upon him) stood up to perform the Prayer over him thereupon 'Umar caught hold of the clothes of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and said: Allah's Messenger, are you going to offer the Prayer, whereas Allah has forbidden to offer the Prayer for him? Whereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Allah has given me a choice saying: Whether you (O Muhammad SAW) ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them (and even) if you ask seventy times for their forgiveness I will make an addition to the seventy. He was a hypocrite and Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) performed Prayer over him and Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed the verse: And never (O Muhammad SAW) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave Hadith number in Sahih Muslim [Arabic only]: 4413
